Kershaw provided a full mechanical and electrical installation for the four-storey building, which will be based at the university’s Luton Campus.
The mechanical elements of the installation include gas-fired boilers, an air source heat pump and chillers serving a four-pipe fan coil unit heating and cooling system throughout the 6000m2 building. A mechanical ventilation system including roof-mounted air handling units and ductwork and specialist systems such as medical gasses, fume extract from fume cupboards was also supplied and installed by Kershaw. The installation also includes a rainwater harvesting system and purified water systems. In addition, Kershaw was responsible for the full electrical installation including all power, lighting, data, fire alarm, photovoltaic array system and security.
