The first stage of the development included a secondary school for up to 600 pupils, a multipurpose school hall / theatre space and drama studios, a sports hall large enough for four tennis courts, a gym, two dance studios, an all-weather floodlit football pitch an energy centre.
Also included was the 110-place The Martin Bacon Academy which is CMAT’s first SEN school. It caters for children and young people aged 3 to 19 who have a range of complex and significant learning needs in the area of cognition and learning (with other co-occurring conditions). This covers a wide range of needs including learners with autistic spectrum condition and those with complex physical and sensory impairments.
The mechanical and electrical installation elements installed by the Kershaw team include above ground drainage and internal rainwater systems, hot and cold domestic water systems as well as natural gas for the boilers and science labs. In addition, Kershaw has provided a heating system comprising of a combination of radiators, underfloor heating and radiant panels.

A mixture of mechanical and natural ventilation systems have been installed throughout the buildings and a building management system is in place throughout. The electrical elements of the installation include services such as
lighting, power and security systems as well as a Photovoltaic system on the roof of both blocks.
