Cambridge company shortlisted for its industry’s top “Oscar” award
A well known Cambridge company and sponsor of local football has been shortlisted for one of its industry’s top awards.
Kershaw Mechanical Services has been named along with two other companies for the coveted Contractor of the Year award, at the HVR Awards.
The ceremony is run by industry magazine Heating and Ventilating Review, and supported by the Heating and Ventilating Contractors’ Association.
“For our industry it’s the equivalent of being nominated for an Oscar,” explained Ian Greenstock, the sales director of Kershaw Mechanical Services.
“To win this award would be stunning. It would top off a very successful year and prove that we are one of the top companies in our industry.”
Staff from Kershaw Mechanical Services will be attending the awards ceremony in London on Wednesday 22nd September 2010.
The company is based in Ditton Walk in Cambridge, and is the lead company of the successful Kershaw Group.
Parts of the group have a history stretching back 120 years. It employs around 200 people and is well known for its involvement in the community.
This includes approaching a decade as a main shirt sponsor of Cambridge United, and 21 years sponsoring the Cambridgeshire Football Association Premier Leagues – known as the “Kershaw Leagues”.
This is thought to be the longest continuous sponsorship in football.
Kershaw Mechanical Services installs and services mechanical systems such as heating, water treatment systems and fire alarms in industrial and commercial buildings around the UK.
It counts Waitrose as one of its repeat customers, and has just been award a £3.5m contract from the University of Cambridge.
