Cambridge company wins unusual contract with London “mansion”
A Cambridge company that normally maintains industrial and commercial buildings has won a new contract – this time to look after an exclusive private London home.
Kershaw Mechanical Services usually maintains the heating, ventilating and electrical systems for giant commercial buildings across the region.
But it has just won a new contract to do the same kind of work for a massive private house in central London.
The company actually installed these systems in an exclusive area adjacent to Regent’s Park last year, in a contract worth £685,000.
Now it has been contracted to maintain them. The contract is worth £15,000 a year.
Gary Smith is the managing director of Kershaw Mechanical Services.
He said: “This house is so big and impressive it took an experienced commercial company like Kershaw Mechanical Services to install the systems in the first place.
“There is certainly more heating, ventilating and electrical work than you would find in the typical semi-detached house, as well as luxurious bathrooms and state of the art audio visual equipment.
“The contractor Rackham Construction and client were clearly impressed with the work we did installing these systems, as they have asked us to maintain them. We’re delighted to do that.
Kershaw Mechanical Services operates a 24 hour maintenance service from its base in Ditton Walk, Cambridge.
It is the lead company of the successful Kershaw Group, which employs a total of 183 people.
