Kershaw Mechanical Services wins £1.85 million contract for new school
Specialist mechanical and electrical contractor Kershaw Mechanical Services has won another major education project.
It will be doing the full mechanical installation worth £1.85 million, for the relocation of St Mary’s school to a new site in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire.
The main contractor is Shepherd Construction, with full project completion due in summer next year.
It’s the first new school built in the local authority area for more than 30 years.
Sales director Ian Greenstock said: “This is another excellent education project and we are delighted to be working on it.
“Schools are very rewarding projects to work on as you are creating buildings that will be at the centre of the community for decades.”
The new school is being built a half mile south of the existing St Mary’s School.
It is being constructed around a square courtyard that will contain an amphitheatre and outdoor dining/play facilities.
Each side of the square building will be designated for specialist facilities.
A full size sports hall, gymnasium and hall will be built extending out from the corners of the main buildings.
Each part of the building is self contained and can be accessed easily by wheelchair users.
Kershaw Mechanical Services is the lead company of the successful Kershaw Group, which employs 183 people and has its head office in Cambridge.
The group is a major sponsor of Cambridge United.
Kershaw Mechanical Services has also sponsored the Cambridgeshire Football Association Premier Leagues – known as the Kershaw Leagues – for 19 years.
