Rising star Carly makes manager in just five years
An ambitious young business woman has been promoted to a management position in a large Cambridge company just five years after joining as an administrator.
26-year-old Carly McDonnell is the new business development manager for the services and maintenance department of Kershaw Mechanical Services.
She is now responsible for developing relationships with new and existing clients, and running the company’s helpdesk.
Carly said: “I’m delighted to get this promotion. It has been a lot of hard work but very much worth it.
“Not many companies are interested when you put your hand up and say you are interested in further training and developing yourself further. But Kershaw Mechanical Services has been excellent, and has given me plenty of opportunities.”
She added: “I don’t intend to stop here. All the senior management in Kershaw joined as trainees when they were young. So I know I can go all the way to the top if I want to.”
Carly joined the company in 2004 as an administrator and has been promoted a couple of times.
Her department offers a full range of building facilities mangement services including 24 hour call out.
Kershaw Mechanical Services is the lead company of the successful Kershaw Group, which employs 183 people and has its head office in Cambridge.
The group is a major sponsor of Cambridge United and recently announced a record 10th year of sponsorship.
Kershaw Mechanical Services has also sponsored the Cambridgeshire Football Association Premier Leagues – known as the Kershaw Leagues – for 19 years.
It recently renewed the sponsorship to 21 years, thought to be the longest continuous sponsorship in football.
