M&E company awarded £3.5m of University of Cambridge work, at home
An experienced M&E company has been awarded £3.5m of university work in its home city.
Kershaw Mechanical Services will be working with the University of Cambridge on a new Department of Humanities, and a refurbishment of student accommodation.
The company has its headquarters in Cambridge, where parts of the group have a history stretching back 120 years.
Ian Greenstock is the sales director. He said: “Kershaw Mechanical Services works on projects around the UK, and it’s always pleasing to work on large important projects at home.
“We are delighted to be working with the University of Cambridge again on these two projects.”
In the first project, Kershaw Mechanical Services will be undertaking the full mechanical and electrical for the new Department of Humanities facility.
The £2.5m contract is with contractor R G Carter.
Meantime, Kershaw Mechanical Services will also be refurbishing the mechanical services in Harvey Court.
This is a student accommodation building for Gonville and Caius College, and the contract is worth £1m.
Kershaw Mechanical Services is the lead company of the successful Kershaw Group.
Parts of the group have a history stretching back 120 years. It employs around 200 people and is well known for its involvement in the community.
The group is a major sponsor of Cambridge United. Kershaw Mechanical has also sponsored the Cambridgeshire Football Association Premier Leagues – known as the Kershaw Leagues – for 21 years, thought to be the longest continuous sponsorship in football.
