Kershaw Mechanical Services goes green with an ISO 14001
Kershaw Mechanical Services has proved its green credentials by being awarded the ISO 14001 environmental standard.
The mechanical services company has spent 12 months reviewing systems and making changes to meet the high demands of the award.
Sales director Ian Greenstock said that process has brought huge benefits for the company and its staff.
He said: “Working towards ISO 14001 is tough but a valuable process to go through. It forces you to examine everything your business does and how that impacts on the environment.
“It’s been extremely beneficial for our staff. As the process has been rolled out in the company they have come on board.”
Ian added: “There is a new green awareness in our business which we are proud of. This is an award I recommend every company should try to achieve.”
ISO 14001 is the international specification for an environmental management system.
It specifies requirements for establishing an environmental policy, determining environmental aspects and impacts of services.
Kershaw Mechanical Services is the lead company of the successful Kershaw Group, which employs 183 people and has its head office in Cambridge.
The group is a major sponsor of Cambridge United.
Kershaw Mechanical Services has also sponsored the Cambridgeshire Football Association Premier Leagues – known as the Kershaw Leagues – for 18 years.
