Kershaw Mechanical Services Top of the Class with Completion of Stansted Airport College

Kershaw Mechanical Services have completed a £1.55million Mechanical and Electrical contract at the brand-new professional and technical skills centre based in the grounds of Stansted airport.
Designed by Pascall+Watson and built by main contractors Willmott Dixon, Kershaw Mechanical Services were responsible for the entire design and build of the mechanical and electrical installation.
The contract included the installation of a new VRF air conditioning system, new ventilation systems to the classrooms, workshops and kitchen areas and local toilet ventilation. They also installed a new heating system via gas-fired boilers and hot water generation and domestic services distribution and drainage. The electrical elements included power, data and lighting installations, fire and intruder alarm systems, CCTV and security systems as well as lightning protection and external lighting.
Luke Ashton, Operations Director, Kershaw Mechanical Services said “The project follows several other contracts we have undertaken within the education sector.” he continued “Whilst it is one of the most distinctive education projects we have worked on – being the first of its kind in any major UK airport, it has utilised our skills and experience gained on previous contracts within this sector”
The £11million facility, which forms part of Harlow college will train up-to 500 individuals each year in technical skills, traineeships and apprenticeships with a focus on Aviation, business, engineering and aircraft maintenance as well as hospitality, retail and events management.
