Kershaw Mechanical Services help Complete new home for Recycling Fleet

Cambridge based Kershaw Mechanical Services, have recently completed work on Oakleigh Road recycling depot.

Appointed by lead contractor Willmott Dixon, Kershaw Mechanical Services have installed a complete M&E package at the site including:

  • Gas fired radiant heating
  • Gilberts natural ventilation turrets and louvres
  • Gas fired domestic hot water system
  • Array of sanitaryware
  • Provision for vehicle washing facilities
  • Watering station for plant store
  • Full air conditioning system for the office spaces
  • Full integrated BMS system

Construction on the project started in May 2016 and includes:

  • An undercover bulking facility for food waste and dry recyclables
  • A maintenance building for the Council’s waste and recycling collection vehicles
  • Parking spaces for the waste and recycling collection vehicles
  • Two vehicle washing bays
  • Bowser filling points
  • A fuel pump
  • A salt barn and winter gritting facilities
  • A two storey office
  • Parking for staff cars

Ian Greenstock, Sales Director at Kershaw Mechanical Services said “we are delighted to have completed this project which will provide a single coordinated site for Barnet Council to operate and maintain its waste and recycling collection fleet from.” He continued “this all round facility should enable an efficient service for residents across the borough”

The new Oakleigh Road South Vehicle Depot will replace the current depot in Mill Hill, which is being redeveloped for housing.
