Kershaw Celebrates National Apprenticeship Week

February 08 2021

As national apprenticeship week takes place (8-15th February) Ian Greenstock discusses the importance of apprenticeships to Kershaw and how the organisation has been supporting apprentices for over 50 years.

“At Kershaw, we know that people are at the heart of everything we do and we actively encourage apprentices in all aspects of our team. We have placed apprentices in nearly every department of the company, from the workshop, estimating, design through to management and site employees”

“We have a long term approach to developing our people and believe Kershaw provides a great environment to develop skills and experience, with opportunities to increase the level of responsibility and get involved in new projects and new fields of expertise.”

“This years’ national apprenticeship week theme is ‘Build the Future’, which we feel extremely relevant to us as an organisation. We understand that now, more than ever, it is vital to invest in the future of our young people. We feel that this not only helps them to progress and succeed but can also help us as a company to learn and develop and remain competitive in the market.”

“We take on new apprentices every year and have a relationship with local colleges, which stretches back over 50 years. Some of our senior management & site management joined Kershaw as apprentices and have worked their way through the ranks. We always look to promote from within and believe that the future managers and directors are working with us right now”
