July 11 2019
Kershaw is delighted to have sponsored Ian Darler - the Groundsman for Cambridge United F.C. in order for him to purchase the first new goalposts in 40 years for the Abbey Stadium pitch.
At the dinner to mark Darler's 40 years at the club, the U's groundsman asked if anyone would sponsor him to purchase a new set of goals. Ian Greenstock, MD of Kershaw Group was the first to put up his hand and agree to sponsor.
Speaking to Cambridge Independent newspaper, Darler said: "these are the first new goalposts at the stadium in 40 years and I cannot thank Ian and Kershaw for their support enough, which then went on to offer funding for work on the pitch, so the actual sponsorship of £4500 was simply amazing support"
"We have already had a number of comments about the new style goalposts and supports and we hope it is the start to the successful season."
Ian Greenstock, also speaking with Cambridge Independent said "Ian wanted a sponsorship for him that would then buy the goals, and I said yes, we will do that s long as its sponsoring Ian and then that sponsors the goals" he continued "I didn't think they were 40 years old. I would have thought they'd be changed every few years so it was a surprise."
