September 28 2020
Kershaw has secured the mechanical and electrical elements of an £18 million custody suite for Bedfordshire Police.
Awarded the contract by Willmott Dixon, the project includes the construction of a new 22 cell custody suite and associated offices, visiting and support rooms on the ground floor and offices to the first floor.
Located at Bedfordshire Polices Headquarters in Kempston, it will be the first major building commissioned at the site since 2005 and will replace the existing, temporary custody suite.
Luke Ashton, Managing Director, Kershaw Said “We are delighted to have been awarded the mechanical and electrical works on this new custody suite for Bedfordshire Police. The new building is set to provide state-of-the-art facilities, enabling the force to continue to deliver their vital services across Bedfordshire” He continued “We will draw upon our previous experience of similar projects to ensure our services are delivered to programme and in budget”
Kershaw will be providing the mechanical and electrical installation for the development including heating, cooling and ventilation, a full building management system, specialist sanitaryware and controls and toilet extract system and full domestic water services. The Electrical systems throughout will include lighting and controls, security detection and alarms, specialist cell security and control system, CCTV and Lightning protection. Kershaw will be working closely with Willmott Dixon and third-party contractors to ensure all specialist items and packages are installed to the required standard. This is especially important given the nature and security requirements of the building.
Work has started on the development in August 2020 and it is due for completion in 2022.
